During this overwhelming time, it is important to be supportive and accepting of one another, regardless of differences. Who someone is or who they love should not affect how they are treated. We're proud to celebrate Pride month and proud to support small businesses here at BFS Capital. To finish off this years Pride, we've compiled a list of resources and tools for LGBTQ+ small business owners that can be utilized throughout the year.
Below are some helpful resources for LGTBQ+ small business owners:
SBA: US Small Business Administration Provided by SBA
The SBA’s resources for LGBTQ+ businesses work towards promoting economic empowerment in the business community through providing various programs and services. Owners can use the local assistance tool to find nearby offices and resources where counseling is available. Additionally, the SBA conducts outreach to be more welcoming and recognize the importance of inclusion on every level of community.
In partnership with the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce, the SBA LGBT Outreach Initiative has been hosting events that connect LGBTQ+ entrepreneurs with different funding opportunities.
The NGLCC is a global advocacy group self-titled as the “business voice of the LGBTQ+ community.” They help to certify and connect business owners to supportive communities at any stage. NGLCC has also partnered with the Small Business Administration and Affinity Inc. Magazine and started the LGBTQ+ Business Builder, which encourages certification and collaboration with SBA offices and local businesses.
Founded in 2016, Hello ALICE! is a gay entrepreneur site that specializes in bringing together LGBTQ+ entrepreneurs nationwide through networking events.
The LBC is a website made up of a nationwide directory of lesbian owned and LGBTQ+ friendly businesses. The site works to connect lesbian owned businesses with their consumer by providing LGBTQ+ event listings and articles for LGBTQ+ owners.

StartOut is a national non-profit organization aiming to support LGBTQ+ entrepreneurs. They organize educational, networking, and mentoring events. Donating to StartOut or becoming a member of the organization is a great way for consumers to aid LGBTQ+ small business owners. There are chapters in varying cities across the US and events across the country to encourage further connection and networking.
Open For Business is an informal coalition of businesses that strive to make an economic case for LGBTQ+ inclusion through reports that demonstrates the opportunities aligned with LGBTQ+ inclusion, as well as the business risks of discrimination. Some of the businesses involved include Google and IBM.
This directory lists businesses and organizations that support the LGBTQ+ community. You can find small businesses in your area by searching under location.
